Playgroup is a service offered in conjunction with individual sessions to families with babies and toddlers from birth to three years of age who are registered at our centre. Each playgroup is coordinated by a Teacher of the Deaf who can provide support and answer questions about your child's development
Playgroup provides opportunities for children to develop their social, physical, cognitive and language skills in a safe environment. A variety of activities are offered to encourage children to explore, experiment and interact with children and adults.
These sessions offer unique opportunities for parents to meet and support each other in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. We also include information sessions so that parents have the opportunity to learn more about hearing loss, child development and support services.
We have a number of playgroups being offered during the week
Auslan Playgroup - Weekly on Mondays (9:15-11:15)
The Auslan playgroup is a playgroup for those parents who would like extra support in developing their Auslan skills. This playgroup will accommodate families with varying skills in Auslan. The intended outcome is to develop proficient Auslan skills. This playgroup is open to children of all ages registered with the Yeerongpilly ECDP.
Tuesday Playgroups - Alternating Baby and Toddler groups (9.15 to 11.15am)
We have separate playgroups for babies and toddlers and these alternate on a fortnightly basis throughout the term. These playgroups offers both Auslan and spoken language opportunities. These playgroups will also provide opportunities to meet therapists, answer your questions and discuss your child’s progress.
